El Mago de Oz

Se cumple hoy el 71º aniversario del estreno de "El Mago de Oz" el 12 de Agosto de 1939 en el cine Strand de Oconomowoc, Wisconsin; 3 días antes de la premiere internacional en el Teatro Chino de Hollywood. Esta maravilla de película, ganadora de dos Oscares, se convirtió en un clásico musical de todos los tiempos y consagró a Judy Garland en el papel de Dorothy Gale, la niña huérfana que llevada por un tornado viaja de su granja en Kansas a un reino mágico llamado Oz en donde acompañada por un espantapájaros, un hombre de lata y un león cobarde se embarca en la busqueda del gran Mago de Oz que gobierna el reino para que la ayude a regresar de vuelta a su hogar. Les regalo dos clips de la película. En el primero Dorothy canta en la granja de Kansas el tema "Somewhere Over de Rainbow" que es considerada como una de las canciones más grandes del siglo XX y una de las más representativas del cine del género musical. El segundo es el tema "We're off to see the Wizard" cantado por Dorothy y los Munchkins, pequeños habitantes del reino de Oz.
